Something Nice - 10 Stories

Tell us a little something about yourself as both a person and an author:
I'm a 30-something writer, actor and publisher who lives and works in London. I'm a silly person who enjoys Doctor Who, curry, beer, and the company of my cat, Buscemi. As an author, I write non-fiction articles for websites, as well as short stories which have a reputation for being more than a little quirky, twisted, disturbing... I don't see it myself.

From an early age on, I was always good at composition and essays—and, thanks to my parents encouraging me to read a lot—my spelling grew to be quite good. In school, German became my best subject (don’t ask me about math).

Tell us a little something about yourself as both a person and an author:
Not much to say about myself.  I’ve had short stories published on a variety of websites over the past 10 years.

What made you decide to be a writer?
I think in my case, I was more concerned about what was going on with non-compete agreements and how they are effecting my career and the thousands of people across this country who have to live with them.  It’s been a tremendous weight for me and I felt that I had to inform people of the problems they present.  I guess I wanted to be like Uptown Sinclair when he wrote The Jungle.

Book’s Name:
 Melancholic Delight

Summary: ‘There’s no love like the first love. There’s no feeling like the desperation to attain true love. Love or lust matters not when two eyes meet, uniting the souls at once.’

It’s this love which frees Sri from the reign of darkness and makes her heart rise to lofty heights of anticipated passion with no one to pull her back to reality. It’s Jishu, who appears as the first ray of hope in her overshadowed life and showers her with the ultimate sense of freedom, which she has been craving for. He fills her life with the long awaited perfection. To a flawed person he appears as the flawless. He becomes one among her most perfect acquaintances, but is he really as unblemished as he appears to be. If so, can a flawed person risk a life with the flawless? Do opposites really attract each other or it deviate them from their normal avenues of life?

It’s a deeply compelling love affair which takes the readers back to their childhood memories and brings back to them the essence of true love.

The changing relations of a man’s life add force to the much ordinary teenage passion. The book is not just about love. It’s about a journey called life which either ends in melancholy or in delight.

J'APE: Just Another Publicity Excuse
How to Publish Your (Kindle) Book for Shameless Self-Promotion and Profit

Those are the most recent, although I also cobbled together a couple in late 2012 after 2011 was a dry spell.

Tell us a little something about yourself as both a person and an author:
I've been self-publishing since 2006, but it feels like it's been longer than that. I've written, edited, and published over 4 dozen books - mostly for Print-On-Demand with Lulu. This year, I started porting them all to Amazon, iBookstore, B&N, and Kobo as ebooks, even though Lulu has carried my PDF's for years.

The writing bug bit when I went back to college at a late age to get some degrees (wound up with 7 of them in 7 years). There I found out that writing was comparatively simple, even if the way they want you to write in college has little use outside their halls. And it took me some time to find my own non-fiction writing style.

I did a couple of novella's as part of National Novel Writing Month, and published one of these, though it's not a main line for me and would take a lot of study to break into this area.

In non-fiction, I'm a de-bunker of "conventional wisdom" and also a "systems" guy. Most of my research is in finding the systems which underlie how life works and functions. In doing this, I generally disprove most conventional thinking that passes for "expert" knowledge.  The world just doesn't actually run that way, regardless of what most people think.

Cedar Hollow by Tracey Smith

Cassidy St. Claire still wasn't sure what she'd been hoping to find when she began the search for her birth parents, but all she’d uncovered was a bunch of death certificates and one ailing great-uncle who’d finally kicked the bucket last week. Since Cassidy is the last surviving member of the family that means his estate, a small seaside bed and breakfast in New Hampshire, has been left to her. An odd stipulation in his Will requires that she appear in person to inherit the property. Cassidy isn't very hopeful that this weekend trip will lead to anything more than a momentary distraction from her busy life, and an excuse to take her convertible for a long drive up the coast.

She certainly isn't prepared for Mr. Tall Handsome and Brooding; Ben Riley has been running the bed and breakfast for the last several years, and he is definitely less than welcoming. His instant dislike for her is staggering, but his penetrating green eyes burn with a dangerous mixture of hostility and attraction.

Within days of her arrival an attempt is made on her life and then another. Suddenly Cassidy finds herself trying to unravel the mysteries of the past, while outrunning the dangers of the present and finally turning to the strong, protective arms of Ben Riley and a future she'd never imagined.

My next guest in the Indie Author Interview Corner is the author of the contemporary fantasy Windor Series books and literary fictional book, Silently Screaming.

Dear readers, please welcome Dawn Husted.
Hello Dawn,

Tell us a little something about yourself as both a person and an author: I was the girl growing up who never really enjoyed reading, in fact my love was movies. I probably saw every movie that came out and only read the cliff notes in regards to school. Once I graduated from Texas A&M University, that all changed. In 2008, I began writing my first book and since then have gone on to publish three more plus a short-story. I love reading science fiction, and have always enjoyed the end-of-time/post-apocalyptic type of work. The next book you see from me will be set in that time period!

Dream OnDream On by Anne Conley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book: Dream on by Anne Conley

Rundown: This is a wonderful contemporary / steamy romance book. For everyone who is looking to unleash a little wild side, this is the romance book for you. I will be looking forward to reading more from Ms. Conley.

What I liked: I enjoyed that the characters were wonderfully and believably flawed. I loved that Dalton was the bad boy and remained true to his character throughout the entire book. I enjoyed Alyssa’s character and truly “got” her character.

What I didn't like: I was a little thrown at first about the characters dreaming about each other. But, in the end I found that it just fit and enjoyed it thoroughly.
